CSRs can contain extensions. It must be possible to filter these away, in cases where the CSR is user input.

Best practice: never accept user input CSR directly, but take the info you need from the CSR and create a new one with that info before signing...

(Oh and don't forget to verify the CSR so you are sure the sender has the private key!)
