Unless any problems are discovered, I would like to get #2119, #2972, #2970, #2969 and #2952 in. All are essentially ready and just need reviewing.

I have prepared most of the changelog in the meantime (to not forget about something), so only a basic update is needed, but feel free to rearrange it as you like it.
