Hi!

I would like for you to consider naming the "g" in "gRPC" after one of my suggestions. Why? Because it's all my partner does in his free time, work on gRPC. It's got to third wheel status ☸️, where I am the third wheel, so I want to do something he hasn't done with gRPC.

Here are my ideas:

  1. Gallimimus 🦖

    Like the dinosaur.
    G-g-ga-gallimimus
  2. Garfield 🐈

Like the fat ginger cat who likes lasagna. Who doesn't like lasagna?
  3. Godric 🧙‍♂️

As in, Godric Gryffindor. I don't think I need to elaborate.
  4. Gastric ☠️

An ode to my stomach. Last year, it tried to kill me, so they had to remove it. You probably don't care, but it would be funny (to me).
  5. Greggs 🥖

It's a British institution, trust me.
  6. Goatzilla 🐐

Not currently a dinosaur, but maybe it should be one.

Thanks for the consideration!

Context: I suggested that this was probably the best place to suggest new names. :)

edit: these are great, btw @lilrara

Thanks for the suggestions :-) I'll make an internal note for next release manager to consider these for 1.20.0 release.

Why stop at 6?

  1. Gorgonzola. Well-known blue veined smelly cheese with origins in Italy
  2. Gonzo. A nod to Hunter S Thompson and/or The Great Gonzo from The Muppets, take your pick
  3. Googolplex. Maybe a bit too close to Google, Gurgle, etc.
  4. Galapagos. Darwin's vacation paradise
