Overview

The goal is to compile recent data on criminal justice involvement with specific focus on the overrepresentation of certain groups, people, and communities. Project scope is California.

Background

The risk factors for criminal justice involvement include: poverty and class, race, veteran status, etc. What is the current landscape in California based on recent research and data? What about at the county level?

Action Items

• Compile recent research on criminal justice involvement in California
• What is the data on CJ involvement when it comes to race?
• What is the data on CJ involvement when it comes to class (with proxies of poverty and/or geography)?
• What is the data on CJ involvement when it comes to veteran status?
• Build out additional research issues (for example, does the data show improvements to these figures following expansion of clean slate efforts in CA?)
