Waiting for new questions to be added.

As newbie team members, we need a place to post any questions/suggestions for Bonnie or any other team member, not directly linked to the project, but for sharing or learning purposes in general.

Action Items

  • Create issue to post questions/suggestions for Bonnie (this issue
  • Add a question
  • Move issue to Questions and Review column
  • Add to agenda
  • Assign to whoever can answer the question, if you know who that is

Q: Can we have a centralized document in each shared drive with links to all the documents in that drive for easier lookup?

A1: You could but no one would keep it up to date and it would just end up using up tons of time to make and then later its just more junk in the drive. What seems work well at HfLA, is documenting how we run the project in the wiki, and which documents got used during the process. See example here: https://github.com/hackforla/internship/wiki/Our-Process and for another project review the one we are making for TDM https://github.com/hackforla/tdm-calculator/wiki/Usability-Testing-2021-05

Q2: Why did we have to move the Google form to the internship gmail drive?

A: It should not have been moved, it should be moved back, and instead shortcuts to the file and folder and a note on the shortcut that explains not to move it because it has a file upload component

Q3: How do we search for members in a repo without going to issues?

Q4: Is there a way to make the links open in a new tab by default?
A4: sadly no according to this resource. However, GitHub might change that in the future. If they do it probably will recognize html so it will look something like this

a href="https://www.w3schools.com" target="_blank"

and work like this Visit W3Schools

Q5: Can we import labels from other projects/repositories?

Answer: yes, they just added that feature, however we have not yet explored how to make it work, and other projects already have other labels that we would not use. Needs more research before it can be used... don't hold your breath. Just get on with making the necessary labels.... but do ask me again if we are starting a project from scratch,

Q7: What does 'convert issues' mean? (It is one of the available options in the Labels tab)

Answer: there is a new feature called discussions, and they are asking you if you want to convert all issues using that label to a discussion board. Don't do it for any of our issues. We can discuss applicability later.

Q8: Why are 'role' labels different colors?

Answer: because its easier for members to find the issues that are only for them.

Q9: This is a mix of an observation, learning moment and questions:

This comment was copy/pasted from slack to GithHub and the slack handles were read as GitHub handles, that do not belong to the same people as the slack handles. So we have some random GitHub users tagged :)
Questions:

  • Are they able to access the comment?
  • We should probably 'untag' them?
  • Is there a way to avoid this or will it be a recurring human error?

Answer:
yes, the people whose github handles those are, are getting emails from us. Which is why when I paste something from slack I try to put it in code quotes e.g.

@bonnie

yes, we should untag them
yes, it will be a recurring human error, however if you use code quotes its less likely to happen.
code quotes are a 3 backticks before and after what you want to put into a gray section that will be rendered as inert text (backtick= `)

Q: I need clarification about the task I have circled in red on the screenshot below. Are all 5 groups (circled in green) the "participant types" that need to be updated on the labels?

@SalomeM-UXD

  • Your issue title indicates that it is about RP001, which is research plan 1. Therefore, check each participant type folder and see which participant type folder contains RP001. Then, you know which participant type it refers to, so you can select the right participant type label using the gear (shown in the screenshot in the action item step.
  • Any specific questions regarding the issue you are assigned to, please make a comment in that issue in the future. In your case, just leave a comment in issue RP001: List of PII #566.

Hi @pandanista , are we having a meeting today? If so, the zoom link from Tue does not seem valid for todays meeting.
