It would really help those of us using Docker, Ansible and other tools to build projects that use fits if fits could have a latest link - this link: https://projects.iq.harvard.edu/files/fits/files/fits-latest.zip was started, which was ideal for this sort of situation, but it appears when 1.4.0 came out the latest link went back to changing with each release.

Thanks for bringing this up. A bit of background on the change:
The host of the fitstool.org site, OpenScholar, has a file upload size limit. This was exceeded with the 1.4.0 release. As a result, we deployed the binaries to the FITS GitHub site and modified the link on the fitstool.org site. Even though the text for the link on the download page was fits-latest.zip, the URL to GitHub now contained the version.
