I'm using Vagrant version 1.0.3 and Ubuntu with kernel 3.8.0.
Vagrant can crash the server (kernel panic) when we will execute command vagrant up server.
This situation is only if on the same server we have already installed KVM with running virtual machine. It doesn't matter if vagrant is executed by root or normal user.

General protection fault: 0000 [#1] SMP.

Update to the latest version of Vagrant and VirtualBox. This is likely an upstream issue with VirtualBox.
