Hello,
For I experienced severe Wifi stability / range issues over the last weeks, especially with my ESP32 that controlls the Huawei PSU, I was looking for known wifi stability issues concerning the ESP32.
And I indeed found a solution (found it here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/something-is-very-wrong-with-the-wifi-on-the-esp32-boards-i-ordered-from-aliexpress-is-there-any-way-to-salvage-these-and-fix-the-wifi/477631/4):
I use the ESP32 wroom USB-C CH340C from aliexpress (https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005005499878473.html) and powered it via USB-C. And here comes the problem: somehow there seems to be a problem with Wifi when powered over USB-C. The ESP has to be powered via Vin/Ground in order to improve (wifi) stability by factor 10. I just cut a usb cable open and connected the red and black wire to Vin and Ground. Now everything works fine.
That might even be a solution for some problems reported here: #308 . As we never ask for exact board specs, it might be that a majority of the stability/wifi problems occured to users of the USB-C ESP32. If some more of you can fix their problem with this solution, we could even think of adding this info to the wiki somewhere...
