yeah, looks like I'm gonna have to do something. It doesn't seem to happen on any of my devices though :(

Do you have a solid internet connection when this happens?

It could be that, or even proxies? I think some mobile carriers run HTTP through a proxy, or at least they used to, but I don't know if that happens for Android devices these days.

Also, tip: you can place a .gz file next to files and turn on gzip_static. This allows nginx to serve a pre-compressed copy of the file instead of wasting its time compressing every time.

However, you probably can't do that for now because 0.8 always look for a chunked response, and I'm pretty sure gzip_static will trigger it to send a more efficient non-chunked response with a Content-Length header.
