While it should be easy to realize with (inline) HTML or custom.css I miss an easy to use way, to layout slides with an image. For example:
align image right, text flows on left
align image left, text flows on right
set image fullscreen background, text flows above
I guess the .fx: extension is the right way to go, as the landslide avalanche theme realizes background images.
IMHO this would add an basic layout skills to anybody who is not familar with the HTML/CSS hierachies.

Perhaps a new macro is needed. I don't really like how the avalanche theme did it - it's a css workaround and completely hides anything in the footer (like source link, slide number, footnote).
