The Design Tokens plugin enables design to create the single source of truth within their Figma UI kit instead of living in the code, pushing the ownership and decision making on that even further left. This may provide benefits, but could also be tougher to manage because of the extra export steps and so on. Could be worth looking into further, at the very least.
