I experiment a little bit with FRITZ_USERNAME and FRITZ_PASSWORD...
Think there are at least three variants:

1. Default username dslf-config with empty password
2. Default username dslf-config with the login password
3. Own username with password

It seems to me that the three variants results in different API results or in other words, it unlocks more API points with each step.
This is probably not really clear and officially documented, right?

Credentials are API specific. Some calls work without a password, other calls need one. In case no user name is given, the default username gets used. Starting with OS 7.24 this behaviour has changed, according to the note at https://avm.de/service/schnittstellen/.
