Colors Much Brighter After Update

I had to wipe out Atom today to clear up some perf issues. Upon installing the latest Monokai package I noticed immediately that the colors are far brighter than the previous version I had on my old install. Unfortunately I don't know which version that was.

For demonstration purposes, here's a screenshot comparing the current rendering to the preview screenshot in the theme's readme:

The screenshot in the readme contains colors that are far more muted (easier on the eyes. and it's the same when the preview image is at full size).

Is there a setting out of whack? Is there anything I can do to remedy this?
