Across the entire project it's used the word "crop", when really the operations being made are "trim" (for example with ffmpeg). This happens because people in different areas calls things differently to same facts. What is generally accepted is:
Crop: is to reduce the resolution, by cutting out portions of each picture or video frame, to remove undesired content near the borders or focus on certain parts, or change aspect ratio.
Trim: to reduce the duration (removing footage), of the audio/video, by chopping out some duration at the beginning, the end or both. Some people call it length or playtime or span.
