I think we can just script chart downloads with wget etc.
we just need a GUI app which asks a simple question “what is your area of navigation” (with drop down) and might be distance.
and based on that we can script downloading charts and mbtiles for all chartplotters into single place
For AvNav, TukTuk, Freeboard, OpenCPN, QtVlm. Without that the whole distro looks a bit flat and undercooked. Once you install it you need to have just few minutes to configure it to be fully usable. OpenCPN chart downloader is not the answer to that

That would be awesome. This is def something that is missing in the community.

This said, I think that will turnout to be a quite big piece of code. I think it should have it's own repository. and be packaged in lysmarine_get.

But as usual this will need manpower and time. I would contribute, but I can't make it happen alone ATM.
