[Run] Plugin weighting #15655
Comments
/needinfo |
I'm not sure #14495 would be the best solution. The use case I'm considering is being able to move the single result plugins like shell and websearch to the top of the list so that multiple results for apps and files can be accessed later if needed. This would also prevent the 'collisions' that occur between the URI handler and websearch where URI often takes priority. |
I'd also appreciate this very much to have more control over how my search results look like without having to remove stuff from the global search results. |
Flow Launcher solves it by having Priority number next to each plugin. The greater number, the higher the related search results will appear. By default the value is 0, and it's greyed out. Increase it to increase priority. Set it to a negative number to get it below. It's not that complicated edit: unfortunately, such feature seems to be added to PowerToys Run, but it doesn't work |
It does work, but you need really weird settings - to consistently get open window results above application results, you need a score of ~200. Just setting it to 1 (and the application launcher to 0) doesn't work, even though you'd expect it to. I suspect there is some weighting based on relevance, but without diving into the guts it is hard to say. |
This has been my experience as well. Just got it to work by setting program weighting to -50 and Window Walker to +45 |
Description of the new feature / enhancement
Allow for changing the order in which types of results are presented in powertoys run. Manually change the priority of the plugins so that certain ones appear at the top.
Scenario when this would be used?
This would optimise workflow and allow users to prioritise the plugins they use more frequently by having them at the top of the results list.
