Microsoft PowerToys version

0.57.0

Running as admin

  • Yes

Area(s) with issue?

System tray interaction

Steps to reproduce

Scrolling direction of the mouse wheel. Every where else in the system scroll wheel behavior is consistent (e.g. pull on the wheel scrolls up) In fact, when Settings is front most, PowerTools (in the background) scrolls correctly! When I bring it forward, it reverses scroll direction

✔️ Expected Behavior

Scroll wheel usage is consistent with systems scrolling

❌ Actual Behavior

It's the opposite

Other Software

Windows 10 Pro 21H2
Intel NUC
Razor Naga mouse (using Razor drivers)

The settings app has different issues on different mouse hardware due to the use of XAML Islands. We hope that WinUI3 will fix this in the future.

Yes, very easy to reproduce on Win11. I have a logitech mouse and I have the scroll wheel setup to mimic 'touch screen style' where pulling toward me on the wheel scrolls down. This works in every app, no problem. However, if I just open PowerToys from the system tray (to see the shortcuts), but do nothing in it, just go back to my browser window and scroll (while PowerToys window is open), the scroll direction is reversed. If I close the PowerToys window, scrolling is immediately returned to normal.

Is PowerToys messing with input events? Is there possibly a setting that I should turn off?

I have a similar problem! Whenever I start up my computer after shutting down/sleeping, etc, all windows will move content up when I drag down (with two fingers). The only way I can reset it to my default (move content down when drag down) is if I open up the Synaptics Pointing Device window. I don't need to change any settings, just open the window! Also, before I open the window, the Animated Taskbar Icon is not showing (either on the taskbar or overflow menu), but when I open the Synaptics window, it pops up. My settings in Synaptics have 'Show Animated Icon' checked.

This problem only started after I downloaded PowerToys. Disabling the mouse utilities and Mouse w/o borders does not rectify the problem.
