Cannot split editor to more than 3 groups

Steps to Reproduce:

1. split editor to 3 groups
2. trying to split editor from now on does nothing

Reproduces without extensions: Yes

I would expect to be able to split the editor as many times as I want. Maybe a have a 21:9 monitor or I write really narrow files or all my split editors are folded on the side.
