Windows build number:

10.0.22631

Your Distribution version:

22.04

Your WSL versions:

My wsl --version output (Dutch language):
WSL-versie: 2.2.4.0
Kernelversie: 5.15.153.1-2
WSLg-versie: 1.0.61
MSRDC-versie: 1.2.5326
Direct3D-versie: 1.611.1-81528511
DXCore-versie: 10.0.26091.1-240325-1447.ge-release
Windows-versie: 10.0.22631.3810

And I am running my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS instance here.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. The situation when WSL is not running, or when no GUI application has been launched since it was booted. To reproduce, just do a wsl --shutdown in Powershell, or wait a longer time so that WSL automatically shuts down in the background.
  2. Launch a GUI application, for example xfce4-terminal. It takes a while to launch, CPU usage goes somewhat heavy and the application opens frozen in the top left corner, it cannot be moved and nothing inside the window responds.
  3. Close the application by rightclick --> close on the Windows Taskbar.
  4. Launch the same GUI application again, or even any other GUI application. It's starts up normally and is fully responsive.

And this whole repeats every time that WSL shuts down again.

WSL logs:

No response

WSL dumps:

No response

Expected behavior:

The first launched GUI application should work without issues.

Actual behavior:

See "Steps to reproduce".

I have no idea what's going on and if anyone else has the same experience. This is an XPS-laptop with both built-in graphics as well as an NVidia card, it's running a Windows Enterprise system.
I am using a multiple-monitor setup on a docking station.
