Footnote on frontpage not appearing

Hi, great template!
I encountered an issue: footnotes (on the name of the author or the institution in the preamble) to, e.g., display acknowledgments are indicated with a star, but the text is then not displayed. Alternatively, also the "acknowledgments:" or "thanks:" preamble is not showing.

Thanks! Can confirm this is an unexpected bug; I'd expect the thanks key under an author should render a footnote. I don't think I'm going to solve this in the immediate future (sorry), so I'm going to tag this with a "help wanted" and encourage any LaTeX-lovers browsing to take a crack at this if they're interested!
