Why react-native's list component not optimized for web?

On the documentation page (https://necolas.github.io/react-native-web/docs/lists/), there is a warning that says "The React Native list components are not optimized for the web".

Any information related to that warning? I want to know more details about it. Is all virtualized stuffs from native app not working on the web, or is it just a subset of them that works?, etc.

Knowing more details about it helps me decide whether our team should introduce a new library (like recyclerlistview) or just stay with the default implementation of react-native-web's list
