How to reset Fulltextsearch?

Sometimes you might want/need to reset the Fulltextsearch index. Here is how to do it.

0. Create a backup via the AIO interface
1. Start all containers again
2. Now run the following commands:

# Go into the container while they are running
sudo docker exec --user www-data -it nextcloud-aio-nextcloud bash

# Now inside the container
php occ fulltextsearch:stop
php occ fulltextsearch:reset

# Exit the container
exit

3. Now stop all containers via the AIO interface
4. run the following commands:

sudo docker rm nextcloud-aio-fulltextsearch
sudo docker rm nextcloud-aio-borgbackup
sudo docker volume rm nextcloud_aio_elasticsearch
# you might need to adjust nextcloud_aio_nextcloud_data below to the path of NEXTCLOUD_DATADIR if NEXTCLOUD_DATADIR was set
sudo docker run --rm --volume nextcloud_aio_nextcloud_data:/data:rw alpine rm /data/fts-index.done 

5. Start all containers again from the AIO interface and it should start a clean index again

If something goes wrong, feel free to restore a backup

Is it normal that after resetting this index it takes hours to start Nextcloud container?

I thought that index will be rebuilt in the background after restarting. Not during startup.

I just want to index the files I’ve migrated from another instance. Can I "simply" run the occ fulltextsearch:index command? Or is that not supported?
