OKD 414 on Vsphere on-prem disconnected install - boststrap server still using quay.io #1853

Hi all,
Trying to install OKD 414 release 4.14.0-0.okd-2024-01-06-084517, using latest openshift-install (openshift-install-linux-4.14.0-0.okd-2024-01-06-084517.tar.gz), in a on-prem Vsphere (installer provisioned infra) from a bastion server with a installed mirror-registry.
Even tought i'm stating in install-config.yaml a mirror registry in the bootstrap server i see :

@PolarisPT, is this environment completely restricted from accessing the internet on its own?

What I'm getting at is that if your initial pull worked and your environment is disconnected then it probably used either the proxy or the imageDigestSources:mirror setup? That said I'm not entirely sure which of the two rpm-ostree will be obeying, the proxy or the registries.conf configuration.

You'll likely want to grab an openshift-install gather as well and post a link here.

You're right i'm stating the proxy section in install-config.yaml so i see in my proxy logs that the bastion is acessing the repos via the proxy.
Also if i remove the proxy section the install fails and i see in the bootstrap server that the podman pull never completes..
I also tried to execute the podman pull with root user and i get :

The installer will first try quay.io, if its unreachable will fall back to the mirror. So, in order to try out the mirror pulling you need to make sure quay.io is unreachable

I had an old version of oc client :

Just downloaded lastest version from https://mirror.openshift.com/pub/openshift-v4/x86_64/clients/ocp/stable/

[root@bastion okd_install]# ./oc version
Client Version: 4.14.7
Kustomize Version: v5.0.1

executed mirror sync now with option --keep-manifest-list=true.
Tried podman pull from bootstrap and it is working!

Going to retry installation, will give feedback asap.

Hi
Did another install and applied the workaround explained in #1500 (comment)

in bootstrap server before rpm-ostree started

cp /root/.docker/config.json /etc/ostree/auth.json

Install completed! \o/

@vrutkovs is it possible to create a patch for #1500 (comment) ?

This supposedly fixed in newer FCOS releases - #1500 (comment). Could you give F39 a try, and if it still fails reply in that rpm-ostreed bug linked there?
