As an author, I want to be able to submit new content and content edits to the website for review and publication without going through the git workflow #251

Description

Making quick updates to site content requires being comfortable with the git workflow, which isn't always the case for writers and or non-technical folks who might otherwise be able to contribute.

Potential solution

Last year, Rob D started looking into a potential CMS option. It may live on a stale branch.

There are a ton of options listed at jamstack.org/

Some interesting candidates include:

Requirements

  • Open source
  • Fairly hands-off maintenance requirements once installed
  • Intuitive GUI for non-technical folks
  • Some diet sort of submit-and-review process available (may require roles and permissions)
  • Plays nice with jekyll (bonus if it works with other static site generators in case we ever move from jekyll)

Thank you!

  • Please document your design and tech decisions in your pull request so others can follow along and understand why we've made the decisions we have.
  • If you'd like feedback, input, or help, share your thoughts or question in this issue's comments.
