Reconnect to existing kernel session via thebelab

Hi,

I'm trying to integrate thebe into a local html page using my own instance of jupyter. Every time my page is refreshed, my script calls thebelab.bootstrap(), which requests a new kernel that never gets shutdown (until I manually shutdown the jupyter lab process).

Ideally, I'd like to be able to reconnect to the same kernel after refreshing the browser (e.g. by storing the kernel id in localstorage then passing it as a configuration setting for the next connection). I thought this might be possible via the savedSessions config, but I'm not sure if this is only for binder configurations. Is there any way of connecting to an existing kernel on my own server?
