Include notebook subsections inside table of contents

Question

Is it possible to list the subsections of notebooks inside the table of contents?

For example, I would like these subsections, which are derived from the headings inside the Jupyter notebook:

to be listed in the sidebar as well (ideally as a collapsible list)

as well as in the table of contents generated using the tableofcontents directive.

Attempted solutions

I have tried changing the maxdepth option and setting the titlesonly option to false, but these had no effect. Is there a special setting to activate because the sections are within the notebook?
