When preparing documents in standards organizations such as W3C or IETF, authors need to refer to a specific version of JSON Schema normatively.
A normative reference means that implementers MUST understand the linked specification, which means that specific feature differences between versions are important.
For example, if version 1 lacks a feature that the standards organization specification requires, it is critical that that standards organization be able to refer to version 2.
