Let's see if we can troubleshoot this issue. First, you need to have an unused output device. Go to the Windows volume mixer, open the "Output device" dropdown, and see if there is any device you are not currently using. Most people choose the "Steam streaming speakers" or "CABLE Input" (if you have VB-Cable installed). From now on, we will call this device " Then, in the volume mixer, set the output of your game (and any other app you want others to hear) to Open DiscordAudioStream and select Now, if you stream the DiscordAudioStream window, your viewers should be able to hear the sound. For the full instructions, see this section of the README. |

Because of the issues of Discord Audio/video quality, lag, etc, I came across this app and it worked the first time I used it. The visual is 200% better streaming through this app, there was a slight few second lag in sound when it worked but the sound is still giving the biggest issues now. I had fun for the first time streaming my games to my buddy because of this app.
From my knowledge, this only works in Server Hangout (audio enabled) for what I know, private chat doesn't output audio in Discord. My original settings for microphone and audio in discord were set to my wireless headset and the windows channel was also my headset. I managed to only get sound working from games, not from windows notification sounds or playing a YouTube video/music through a browser, they have never worked.
Some how I had the application output dropdown set to my TV to output sound to my stream and my windows channel was set to my headset which output sound from my game that I can hear on Version 1.3.X
I tried again a couple weeks later and I spent a good 2 hours trying to get audio to work correctly (which running out of options) I tried updating this to 1.4.0 but this was no longer the case anymore. I feel like discord updated something that messed up Audio Output or Windows update did something but sadly concluded on these few issues.
***When I specify (Audio) I mean game audio from a game on Steam.
Audio works if application output matches the windows channel, (which gives a warning about echo) others can hear the audio and the audio meter picks up sound and it's echoed, but selecting another option from the application's dropdown doesn't output audio.
When using a USB headset Ex: Corsair Virtuoso Wireless, (when both application dropdown and windows channel match) sound works for you because they match and audio meter picks up the sound but other people cannot hear the audio, but if they did would most likely echo. (Note: I just seen as there were issues with 7.1 surround but I may still have had stereo enabled at that time but I will confirm on my side)
Using other dropdown selections from the application that doesn't match windows channel doesn't output any audio because your games sound is being fed through the windows channel. If you have the option to change the games audio output and you match it with the applications output, it works and the sound meter works. However you cannot hear it because the game is no longer outputting sound to the windows channel and the only way your headset/tv will work is if your windows channel is set to it.
So the sum up above...
*Your selected sound output (TV or headset) needs to match the windows channel so you can hear your game.
*The game output needs to output to both windows and application but it can't as its one or the other
(your friends will hear it or only you will hear it but not both)
*The application output needs to be on a different channel other than the windows channel so it doesn't echo but this option doesn't output sound.
Is there a break in this loop that I may have been missing this whole time?
