Let me host layout templates in a code repository (eg: Github, Gitlab) #162

It would be awesome if all of the templates I have stored in Pardot were able to be connected to a code repository, such as Github or Gitlab. This way I could develop my templates using a tool like Atom and not have to manually copy my markup into Pardot. In my teams workflow this would eliminate a lot of tedium and allow us to be a lot more efficient.

How does anyone develop and maintain the layout templates in pardot nowadays?

My guess would be that they don't. I develop my Pardot templates in a Gitlab repository and publish them manually-- it's a pain but developing exclusively in Pardot is a fools errand if you ask me.

Have you created an Idea [1]?

Honestly, if open source software can fix stuff from github issues, why can't paid software do the same instead of pushing "responsibilities" around to a silly idea community (that the product team hardly participates) that needs at least 2000 likes in order to get implemented?
I've created ideas in IdeaSearch before and it's ineffective at best.

Fix the underlying issue! Pardot templates is technology from the 2000s. It's 2020, developers don't use copy and paste HTML anymore. Seriously ...

Pardot's engineering team is very much understaffed if you ask me. It's silly why people still pay thousands to this half arsed software.

Hey Y’all,

I am a Pardot PM and one of my developers brought this thread to my attention. I have some great news that may help. In our Winter’21 released on 10/19/2020, we are providing a BETA endpoint that allows full CRUD operation on landing page layout templates as well as files. While it does not directly provide integration with GitHub, it should open up the door to allow syncing your landing pages layouts with Github to remove the pain points you mentioned above.

I hope this helps spawn some ideas for solutions and we would love to hear your thoughts on how you may use these endpoints. You can find more details here (https://developer.pardot.com/kb/api-version-5/version5overview/).

Thanks,
Chris Cornet (Salesforce Pardot PM)
