add 3d bar chart

It would be nice to be able to plot 3D bar charts, just like this one here:

It could be used to render discrete values.

Has there been any progress made on this, at least a workaround?

I was looking into doing this with MATLAB but I realised that I have no way to access that and want to stick with Plotly as much as possible.
