Hi, I have a LM 1265 red button. I installed a LM889 wall control. After installing the new wall control, ratgdo works... for the most part.

I have random bouts of unavailability where the following things happen:

  • The ratgdo cover shows up as unavailable in Home Assistant and triggering the gdo via home assistant stops working
  • I get a slow red/yellow flash on the LM889 (supposed to mean that the gdo is not compatible)
  • Remotes connected to the opener stop working
  • Wall control stops working

When it happens it seems to reestablish connection within 10 minutes. Sometimes it happens repeatedly and other times it can go hours without becoming unavailable.

Given the random nature of this I haven't tried to get a log.

I will note that ratgdo worked flawlessly for a week or so when I had no wall control hooked up to the opener. But that is not a long term solution for me. I tried hooking the old 78LM wall control to the open dry contact but it would only open not close the opener.

Has this happened to anyone else, any thoughts? Any troubleshooting steps other than trying to leave a laptop hooked up a while to try and capture a log of when it happens?

The 78LM wall control has to be connected to the red/ctrl terminal, not the dry contact terminal. That wall control will toggle the door over the red/ctrl line, but it will not control the lights or wireless lockout.

As far as the problem you are having with the LM889 [sic - I think you mean 889LM], I can't do much to trouble shoot it without a log. You can also try the ESP Home port of sec plus 1 which is in development. (see discussion) It has a web serial log, so you can get the serial log without needing to plug in via USB.
