@Spatiotemporal-Exposures-and-Toxicology

ROpenSci review process is a good opportunity to get feedback on the contribution of this package to the user community as well as to increase visibility. The other plus is that a submission with a manuscript may get on a fast track for publication in JOSS. As there is a set of requirements for software review, I will work on adding examples in every function and fulfilling other requirements. It will be the best case if a manuscript is published elsewhere and the package is accepted by ROpenSci.

  • Add @examples in all functions in chopin
  • Make the package layout abides by ROpenSci guide (which also helps for CRAN submission)

@sigmafelix That's a great idea! I also have word from multiple TEP members from CHORDS that have students/postdocs willing to beta-test our software. Let me know if you want to set that up.

@Spatiotemporal-Exposures-and-Toxicology That's a great news! I will add examples and revisit documentation to clarify if necessary. For beta testing, do we provide volunteers with materials other than our package?

We haven't discussed it that far - they probably have datasets or examples that they could use. If you have a vignette or two to share that would probably get them started. I still like the ROpenSci idea too since that is a really great stamp of approval.

We could use our TEP beta-testers as a first round to help maximize the chances of a successful review with ROPenSci. Or we could do in parallel. What do you think?

@Spatiotemporal-Exposures-and-Toxicology I think doing both in parallel is a good idea because the review process usually takes 3+ months. I will prepare for a review and beta tests to start both early next week.

I will submit a presubmission inquiry to ROpenSci this evening right after the broken image links are fixed.

Presubmission inquiry is submitted. I expect to get feedback from ROpenSci in a few days.
