# Installation details for Solaris 9
On Solaris 9 an old version of libxml2 is installed. In order to be able
to compile libpki you need to update the library. We were not able to find
an updated package from Sun directly. There are two options:
1. Download the source code, compile it and install it (source code
can be found at http://xmlsoft.org)
2. Download the binary package by using the pkg-get tool (more info
can be found at http://www.blastwave.org/packages.php/libxml2 )
In order to install libxml2, you'll probably have to upgrade the
system, to do so, you'll need to run `pkg-get -u` to install new
packages. This will also provide a new version of OpenSSL package
(all packages installed by using pkg-get will be installed under
/opt/csw directory). After the upgrade, you should be able to
install the new xml2 lib by using the command `pkg-get -u libxml2`.
