many older screencasts in the web site has many spam. however those screencasts are still watched and comments are read. for both new and old posts i suggest a "flag as spam" button. so, per se if 5 visitors flag the comment as spam, it would hide.

I had a "mark as spam" button a while back and the problem was that it was abused. Some legitimate comments got over 5 spam reports, however it was also available publicly and maybe too easy to hit accidentally. I prefer moderators because it is not anonymous and they have a better understanding of the guidelines and what is considered spam.
Since moderators were just added today, let's wait a couple weeks for them to get settled in. Then we can open discussion with them as to the best way to clean up the older episodes.
A flag as spam button might be helpful. It shouldn't hide/delete comments, but it could generate a page with reports for moderators to then go through and check.
