I just have some static html files that i want to deploy with nginx. I dont understand how to startup nginx for this.

This may be a good start for you. Within nginx.conf you can add under http.server new entries like these below.

location = /favicon.ico { rewrite (.*) https://newlocation.com/favicon.ico; }
