There are two Amazon Linux distributions,

  • Amazon Linux 2 (based off of RHEL 7 with Python 3.7)
  • Amazon Linux 202x (yearly updated Linux with Python 3.9), last year's was Amazon Linux 2022.

Was looking at supporting Amazon Linux 202x when it was in beta, but then moved on from packaging.
Don't know if we need to build packages for it specifically since 3006.x and up are self-contained, but we should definitely add it to the testing matrix to ensure built 3006.x and up run on it, probably starting with the upcoming Salt 3007.

Amazon Linux 2023 will be part of an upcoming 3006.x release, and in the upcoming 3007 version of Salt.
This issue will be closed once the packages are published, and the docs are updated:
