This has a similar purpose to navigator.onLine where we can exit early if we can't find a network interface to connect to the internet with:
navigator.onLine
const os = require('os'); const networkInterfaceExists = Object.values(os.networkInterfaces()).flat().some(({internal}) => !internal);
