How to avoid trying to save ___once_listener__XXXXX when using once inside a model?

Hello i Have a model with a function that uses once.

when trying to save the model its trying to save a field named ___once listener

this is the query its trying to run:

 vendor/laravel/framework/src/Illuminate/Database/Connection.php:517
      Illuminate\Database\Connection::run("update `users` set `status` = ?, `___once_listener__465173` = ?, `users`.`updated_at` = ? where `id` = ?", Object(Closure))

the code im trying to run is pretty simple:

public function updateStatus($status)
    {
        $previous = $this->status;
        $this->status = $status;
        $this->save();

        event(new UserStatus($this));
        dispatch(new UserStatusLogger($this, $status, $previous));
    }

and the momoized function used previously was:

public function getChannelIds()
    {        
        return once(function () {            
            if ($this->isSuperAdmin()) {                
                $channelIds = Channel::orderBy('id')->pluck('id')->all();
            } else {                
                $channelIds = DB::table('channel_user')
                ->where('user_id', $this->id)
                ->distinct()
                ->pluck('channel_id')
                ->all();
            }            
            return $channelIds;
        });
    }

to reproduce the error you can do the following:

$user = User::first();
$user->getChannelIds();
$user->updateStatus(3);

I was having this issue and then it seemed to vanish when upgrading from 2.* to 3.* so I'd recommend giving that a try if that's possible
