About me
Hi, as you may have guessed by looking at the names of some of my projects, my name is Néstor; but I'm known in the interwebs as Konamiman. I've been a MSX user interruptedly since 1986, I was a member of Asociación de Amigos del MSX in the 1990s (while I was living in Barcelona), and the MSX is to this day still my main hobby. I currently work as Automattic as a web developer.
About my work
I love to develop stuff for MSX and also to indirectly support MSX development by creating supporting tools for modern machines. Most of my repositories are in this line, like:
- MSX, the catch-all repository where you can find all the MSX stuff I created since the mid-1990s until I decided to get serious with GitHub. This includes for example InterNestor Lite, my TCP/IP stack for MSX computers.
- Nextor: what if you received the source code of the official operating system of your favorite retro computer years after it was discontinued? And what if the father of the MSX himself gave you permission to open-source your work based on it?
- Konpass: not as huge as an entire operating system, but also a nice old MSX tool whose sources I decided to mess with to create an improved version.
- Rookie Drive FDD ROM: turn your Rokie Drive into an old-school floppy disk drive controller.
- Z80.NET: a Z80 simulator written in C#, it powers NestorMSX, my (veeery simple) MSX emulator.
- M80.NET, giving new life to an old CP/M-based set of Z80 development tools by means of embedded emulation.
- Nestor80, a multiplatform (.NET) Z80 assembler compatible with MACRO-80.
...and more.
How will sponsorships help me?
I'll be honest: sponsorships will only marginally help me in my neverending pursuit of some scraps of free time to dedicate to MSX development ("See, honey? All the time I spend on that MSX thing isn't completely wasted after all, I'm earning moniez!"); also all of my work is in the open and I don't produce physical stuff, so there's not much I can offer in terms of rewards. So think of your sponsorship as pretty much a donation/thank you/morale boost for me.
That said, I have created a few (random-ish) sponsorship tiers based on exclusive email communications and adding your name/logo/link on my projects and web site. Don't expect a ton of exposure as I'm not really famous outside of the MSX world, so think of these as a small bonus/thank you gift for your support.
- I can't get sponsored by a company or project that can be considered as competition of my current employer, Automattic.
- I don't want to be sponsored by any company or project related to cryptocurrencies, NFTs, or blockchain stuff.
If in doubt, please contact me.
