Earth – The Blue Marble

Hello there, I'm Ralf, an independent sociologist and software developer from Basel, where Switzerland, France and Germany meet the global society. I'm focused on you being focused, and how we stay focused, and aim to find out to what extent a creative person can be trained today to assert their place in the age of the machine, or rather, to what extent this creative person is necessary for the machine.

In 2022 I founded dreyeck gmbh to provide development services and consulting for the various open source projects I work on. You can support my work by hiring me through dreyeck or by sponsoring me here. Your support means that I can spend more time developing and maintaining these projects to make them thrive.

Federated Wiki

Wiki Turns 30 next year. So we could ask for the next generation. I'm not out to disrupt other technologies, but to give breathing space to those who think the Internet has been disrupted enough. With Federated Wiki we are not out to change the world but to create a lightweight online space where documents are just documents, in the interest of everyone's privacy, attention, and bandwidth.

Zettelkasten

A wooden card box will last for decades. Together with the Zettelkasten team, I make sure that the digital version of Niklas Luhmann's Zettelkasten will work for you at least as long.

Semantic Data Platform

As part of an online digital humanities course, I used the software of dmx.berlin as a digital wallboard and repository. I am extending the capabilities of Zettelkasten and Federated Wiki and integrating them into a semantic data platform.

Moldable Development Patterns

We can change anything at any time, just not everything at once. When it comes to software and the systems we build with it, I use Glamorous Toolkit when I don't want to settle for the limitations imposed by others. We describe the patterns of this new way of software development in Lepiter, a live notebook, and – you guessed it – integrate the whole thing into the Federated Wiki. After all, it grew out of the Portland Pattern Repository. I would love to continue this work with your help.
