All the peer dependency ranges from svelte packages in next are the same:

    "svelte": "^4.0.0 || ^5.0.0-next.16",

This isn't the case in main, which has:

    "svelte": "^3.0.0 || ^4.0.0",

Seems like this work has already been done!
