Since discord (though oftentimes slowly, I've seen images not available within seconds) deletes attachment links for messages that have been deleted, it would be helpful to download the images from discord and reupload them on the message log message instead of just linking to the original.

Wouldn't have to reupload all attachments of course, just those hosted by discord.

Hey @b-rad15 thanks for the suggestion -- I have thought of this before, but it's bit much to download and reupload every attachment sushii sees since that needs to be done before messages are deleted.

The main concern I want to avoid though is the shift of liability when there's TOS violating material uploaded, since it changes from sending a link to media that is uploaded by the user and after some time deleted, to sushii being the uploader

Oh very true. In terms of reupload stuff I would fine with images uploaded after deletion, I feel like 99% would be available long enough to be able to grab it.

In terms of liability I completely get why that could be a minefield and why you wouldn't want to do it, I tried to find anything from discord specifically about it and it seems like they haven't commented on it. The best I can find is that they've promoted bots like Dyno that do reupload to log images.
