Hi,

I would like to know more details about Server Auditing data source in TabMon example workbook. As I already figured it out it should connect to Tableau postgres database to gather some performance data (not sure about kind of the data). But what in a situation when I need to monitor more than 1 environment? For example PROD, DEV and QA? Is it possible to get this on the sample workbook?

I think that Server Auditing data source should be better described in the User Guide...

Thank you.

Hello @LightTab,

To clarify, your question is in regards to the "What's Going On?" dashboard and how to use it for a multi-environment TabMon instance, correct?

The best way to use the "What's Going On?" dashboard in a TabMon workbook connected to multiple environments is to do the following.

  1. Connect to each environment's readonly user(auditing) using separate connections.
  2. Make a copy of the "What's Going On?" dashboard for every environment that you would like to monitor. This means there will be a separate dashboard for PROD, DEV, and QA.
  3. In each dashboard, replace the Server Auditing data source with the corresponding environment's readonly (auditing) connection.

This should allow you to view the "What's Going On?" dashboard for multiple environments in a single workbook.

Moving forward, if you have any other questions or items that you believe should be addressed in the user guide please let me know. I will try to address them in my next update.

Thanks,
Dan
