I've been trying to live my life with tectonic installed, without also having a local TeX Live installation. This situation is fairly comfortable, in particular it takes up minimal space on my hard drive. However, something I miss (from when I used TeX Live) is two utilities that are automatically installed alongside TeX Live, namely:
texcount, a perl script for counting the number of words in a tex document based on the source code.
texdoc, a utility for finding the PDF documentation that comes with most packages.
Does tectonic include either of these utilities? If not, would it be possible to add these utilities or similar functionality alongside the compiler? For example, in the new interface, these utilities could be accessible via a sub-command.
These two utilities are my personal favourites, but there are probably other generally useful utilities in TeX Live that I don't know about, and so a more general version of my question is, does tectonic provide these kinds of utilities, or could/should it do so?
