About

# Install/update DaVinci Resolve, a closed-source video editing utility
install-resolve ACTION="":

Have you looked in https://github.com/H3rz3n/davinci-helper (https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/herzen/davinci-helper/) instead ?

The whole app, or maybe only some of its logic about it ?

So for what Im seeing here, davinci-helper relies in dnf to install system dependencies.
Migrating the logic would be not preferable, we try to not reinvent the wheel, that leave us with using davinci-helper directly.
Though seems it uses dnf to install system dependencies, so we would need to setup a distrobox container for it.
In my opinion, would complicate the UX, from running a simple script, to now a fully fledged app.
Regardless, gonna try this in a container to see how it goes and to give a better opinion on using it or not.

So, trying to set it up, but is presenting some issues, making it inoperable inside containers at the moment:

On the UX side, I feel is too complicated, in the sense that:

These are tabs on the app, each with an step of the process to install davinci, which need to be triggered manually with the start button

I (personally) feel is something unnecessary and that could be automated/omitted (something that davincibox fullfills).

TL;DR: This feels a great tool, but I dont think it fits our needs for 'simple to use' scripts.
Of course, this is my take, I ask for others opinions on whenever we should use this instead of davincibox, specially when comes to the UX side.

Though, must remind that these issues linked above prevent us of event setting it up, need to be taken care of.

Surely a distrobox (or even better, Flatpak) would be better

There is not an official one, however the unofficial one (https://github.com/pobthebuilder/resolve-flatpak) seem to work correctly for people having tried it
