Issue with slate v0.6.2+: crash when using createPortal from react-dom.

There is a known issue with Slate v0.6.2+ when instantiating an editor in a Portal.

Here is a workaround:

Rolling back to 0.61 got it working for now. Also, keeping the current version but commenting out the line that throws the error at https://github.com/davidruisinger/slate/blob/master/packages/slate-react/src/plugin/react-editor.ts#L113 seems to work too.

But if I downgrade Slate to 0.6.1, then Plate won't work. And it won't work if I manually edit the file because my CI pipeline will build a clean project.

Any idea how I can temporarily disable this error?

We indeed need 0.63.0 for dnd support. Temporarily forking slate with the mentioned fix seems to be the easiest.

Almost impossible to do as I need to: extract the subpath for slate package in slate repo and make it my own project and do the same for plate.

It's unfortunately not just a simple fork :(

We have the same issue periodically in production with our app as well. Our workaround has been to use yarn patch (a really handy feature in yarn 2) to revert some of the changes in slate.

@dylans that looks like a neat solution. I tried patching slate-react commenting out the throw commands but it still throws. Can you eventually give me the content of your patch files?
