Look into: using UUIDs for ids

Using UUIDs for the table IDs referenced by FK would simplify merging separate database (avoid serial ID conflicts which need to be resolved and cascaded to referencing tables), but they are 4x larger than INTEGER ids and 2x larger than BIGINT ids
