Kangaroos are a symbol of Australia and, of course, carry their young in a bag.

A kangaroo emoji was part of N3607 by the Irish and German NSBs in 2009, but was dropped soon after, probably because it was not required for interoperability with existing encodings or charsets. The exact details have not been documented.

A useful point for an eventual proposal: Kangaroos are featured on Australian road signs. Many other animals that appear on such Caution: Animals Crossing signs around the world, e.g. Cows, Deers and Toads in much of Europe, already have emojis.

The candidate emojis for Unicode 11 include a Kangaroo emoji as U+1F998.
