BeepBoopBip is a retro-themed, simple, and small soundpack. Its game-ready build has a (current) file size of under 1MB, and has readily accessible development files under /scratch/BeepBoopBip to tweak and expand upon easily.

Sounds included:

  • Menu select
  • Menu error
  • Opening/closing doors, trunks, curtains, etc.
  • Explosions
  • Gunshots
  • Player, fleshy enemy, and robot hurt noises
  • Walk sounds for various grasses, carpets, wood floors, stone, metal, and barefoot
  • Engine start, stop, running, and various failures
  • Melee swinging
  • Prying open terrain
  • Alarms
  • Flashbangs
  • Player death

Most sounds have three variations as of currently.

Development files include .bfxrlibrary files for use with Bfxr [Website], output .wav files from Bfxr for converting to game-acceptable .ogg, and some special .wav files that were edited in Audacity [Website] (mostly just to get sounds properly looping).

adds: gunshot, death, attacking enemy, attacked player(/npc?), menu select, and smash sounds. includes scratch directory where .wav and sfxr .txt files reside for development purposes

removed: 'old' directory in scratch

note: for some reason walk sounds are broken
connected: common doors and windows.
note included in engine.json regarding gear shift 'popping'
changed: doors/obstructions-that-can-be-opened now sorted within multiple files
changed: melee attacks moved to directory
fixed: large canvas flap
cleaned: steps
steps are currently broken again
changed: engine sounds now only play for combustion and electric engines
for some reason, walking on wood is broken, and is falling back to walk_tarmac
