Why is this app not on the App Store or Play Store?

The answer is simple: I do not have an Apple or Google account, nor do I want to. Therefore it is simply impossible for me to add apps to the store myself. Since Gloomhaven Secretariat is open source, anyone can submit it to the store.

• for Apple App Store I can just point to PWA Builder, but also with disclaimer here: I heard that Apple Store Rules are also very strict on PWAs being in store, so no idea if GHS fulfill such requirements

Why do I see different domains like ghs.champonthis.de, gloomhaven-secretary.de or gloomhaven-secretariat.de?

All three domains belong to me (they are very cheap 😬👍) and they all point to the same web server and therefore to the same version. So in general it makes no difference which URL you use, but personally I would prefer gloomhaven-secretariat.de. The only difference is your local game, because it is stored per domain. But if you use a server, it makes no difference at all. And if you want to change because you like another one better, you can also export and import your game state under Data Management!

But since anyone can host a version of GHS, you might find it hosted somewhere else. Then keep an eye on the version, because only the three domains listed here are hosted by me with the latest version.

And here is some history on why I run it on the domains: champonthis.de is my personal site, so ghs.champ... was just the first place for me to easily host it! After that I added ...secretary.de. Then I renamed it to secretariat and added that domain too! Since everyone can start with one of the three, and the game state is tied to the domain, I don't want to shut down a domain and have someone lose access to their game.

Since I got a troll comment about Secretary may be sexist, I thought more about it. So Gloomhaven Secretary becomes Gloomhaven Secretariat!

I got late to the Gloomhaven community, so I was not into any flame wars about the cultural consultant story. But I really like people being aware and also this came up in this good The New Yorker article, I am very happy that a creator of a game I love also has a standing I can support.

So to clarify, since I am a stupid German, I just translated the German word "Sektretär" to secretary in the sense of the furniture (besides "Sekretär" is also the male secretary). I did not thought about other interpretations. In the end I don't care about if someone really thought about this or not as I don't care much about the name anyways. Maybe it was just the troll try to trigger me, maybe someone felt offended but didn't want to draw attention. In the end, I like giving the trolls what they want on a tray, that's my answer. Important is what the app does, important it that it works and now I don't even need to change the acronym.

So I just think: no one gets hurt by renaming my app. And since nobody's going to get hurt, it doesn't matter if it's stupid or conscious. I just didn't think about it before, now I have. And I hope we can just stay 🌈. Keep this community as nice as I find it most of the time!
